Special EducationSpecial Education is defined as
"Specially designed instruction, at no cost to parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability." Special Education is governed by the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The overall purpose is to provide students with an education that meets their individual needs at no cost to the parent. Your child's journey in special education will begin with a referral from a teacher or parent. With consent from the parent, the child will be evaluated to determine if he or she qualifies for special education services. If the student qualifies, an IEP (Individual Education Plan) will be developed to best meet the student's needs.
